This course for coaches, Creating a Performance Enhancement Team, explores the key elements of building a team of service providers to support your athletes. You’ll learn how to identify experts in healthcare, nutrition, medical support, sports science, and other roles to improve athlete performance and well-being.
Your role as a coach extends far beyond designing workouts and providing technical guidance. To truly support your athletes in achieving peak performance, it’s crucial to build a Performance Enhancement Team (PET)—a network of experts who can provide specialized knowledge and assistance.
This course will walk you through the various roles that make up an effective PET. We’ll explore the importance of:
- healthcare providers
- nutritionists and dietitians
- medical staff
- sports scientists
- and additional team members like attorneys or pharmacists
Each of these roles plays a unique part in ensuring your athletes receive comprehensive care and expert advice.
It’s important to recognize that while you may develop strong partnerships with these specialists, you as the coach remain the key decision-maker in your athlete’s training and performance plans. Your role will involve integrating expert advice with the athlete’s goals and your coaching strategies.
