As promised, today in episode 106, we bring in Dr. Stephen Seiler, one of the world’s preeminent exercise physiologists, to discuss how to adjust your training now that the world is in a chronic state of disruption. Obviously, this is new territory for all of us, and there’s a lot of uncertainty as to when the situation will improve. As such, we don’t always know what the best answers are; we’re going to give you a lot of different ideas and opinions today. Ultimately, you’ll need to find what works for you and your circumstances. We start our discussion by addressing the need to face the reality of the situation. We then dive into our recommendations for reframing goals given your new focus. We’ll touch upon planning the rest of your season based upon those new goals. Finally, we’ll address the immunological repercussions of training, which are particularly important in the present.
As a bonus, we’ll also hear what Dr. Seiler has on his playlist during Zwift races. Speaking of Dr. Seiler, we have some big news: in the coming days, check our social media feeds, we’re @fasttalklabs, for information on riding on Zwift this Thursday, April 9, with Trevor, me, and Dr. Seiler. We’ll do a bit of racing, then you’ll have the chance to chat with us for more advice on training. We’ll provide links in our social media feeds to the course and time. Again, that’s on April 9 Disruption is everywhere, so it’s time to adjust. Let’s make you fast!
